There’s no single answer to how far in advance you should book. It really comes down to what you’re planning and when. Here’s the event rental booking timeline we walk clients through every week.

3–6 Months Out: Large Events & Peak-Season Parties 

Corporate events, school carnivals, or a family gathering big enough to need its own parking plan. These events tend to land on OC’s busiest weekends, and that’s exactly the problem.

The first units to go during peak season are combo bouncers, obstacle courses, and water slides. People sometimes lose their first-choice water slide because a competing event booked it two days earlier (same weekend, same neighborhood, tough break).

If your event is large, or falls on a holiday weekend, treat 3 to 6 months as your window, not your deadline.

1–2 Months Out: Birthdays, Baby Showers & Graduation Parties

Most birthday parties, baby showers, and graduation parties fall into this tier. Standard bounce houses are usually still available at this point, but they’re filling up fast.

Standard bounce houses move fast off the schedule. Larger combo or obstacle units need more lead time, since there are simply fewer of them in rotation.

Permits for Public Parks & Outdoor Events

Planning outdoor events in a public park? Build in extra time. Many cities require permits or proof of insurance before community organizations or families can reserve inflatables on public land. And that paperwork rarely moves quickly.

Coordinating Delivery and Availability in Orange County

Keep in mind, booking the unit is only half the job. The other half is making sure everything lines up on the day itself.

Working With Multiple Vendors
